The Gospel Rock public information meeting this coming Monday, June 28, will be a critical one to attend if residents want to continue influencing, at critical stages, the direction the Gospel Rock planning process is taking. We are at one such stage now.

The latest draft plan (just one option is being presented this time) includes waterfront development in an environmentally rare ecosystem, an option that was roundly rejected by the public in a survey of residents in 2008.

The plan also contains questionable development on the forested slopes and ridgelines (not clearly shown in the draft plan drawing) and yet another increase in housing densities to 757 units.

Of concern also is the fact that this committee does not include any representative from the public, contrary to repeated requests for one.Important decisions will flow from this meeting - decisions that can be influenced by active public input.

So, if you care about theGospel Rock lands and want your voice counted, you'd best attend this critical meeting from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Gibsons Community Centre.
