So I see the Experience Card is too popular (B.C. Ferries FAC meeting, Coast Reporter, July 2), and as a result, fares might go up.

Does Mr. Clark know how much money and time I have to waste each night the ferry is late? And the captain, who says 60 per cent on time rate? I commute each day, and in the last two weeks it was on time once for the 5:30 p.m. sailing.

I am fed up with all the excuses. If the boats were maintained correctly by competent engineers, maybe slip-ups would not happen. Also a real planned schedule would help. We all know two hours for sailing in the summer is not enough. Every day it seems we can look at the website and see traffic delays or operational delays as excuses for late sailings.

Yes, I understand stalled cars and medical emergencies, but not an unworkable schedule.

Many people commute and no doubt make this route profitable in spite of what B.C. Ferries says. Route 3 is always in the black, yet we are treated like second-class citizens. The crew is wonderful, no complaints there, just the corporation.

So Mr. Clark, maybe instead of chocolate for the 50th anniversary, a free voyage might be in order. Seems I am owed quite a few.
