There is a fawn grazing on the mowed lawn, a little girl standing in awe of the technology behind the picture window, an elderly couple chatting about the pleasant ambiance and ravens circling above - it's all there, in the picture that accompanied your story regarding the new wastewater treatment facility (Coast Reporter, Feb. 8).

What is not in the artist's representation or the press release are answers to some questions: Are the guarantees that there will be no smells nor noise from the plant enforceable in B.C. courts without cost to the local taxpayers? How does the projected range of operations and maintenance costs compare to current costs, and what ranges of uncertainties like grants and future such as cost overruns, inflation and interest are in those projections? Do the mayor and council have any independent assessment of similar plants in First World residential areas, and will they share those with the public? No doubt others will think of many more questions yet to be answered.
