I was dumbfounded by Sechelt council's decision to eliminate 15 to 20 parking stalls at Davis Bay (Coast Reporter, July 30).
Families enjoying the beach, seniors getting their exercise walking on the sea wall and dog owners walking their pets all need a spot to park their vehicles. On weekends, it is near impossible to find a parking spot. More spots are needed, not fewer.
The mayor believes people's fences and yards are more important than the safety of citizens who stop to enjoy the wonders of the Sunshine Coast. There is a simple solution to the traffic problem - enforce the speed limit.
It was only a few years ago that hundreds of thousands of dollars were spent to upgrade the area, and now council proposes to destroy it. Leave things as they are until the bypass is built.
