Congratulations to Ward-Ellis Winters and Garth Kitson for their leadership in bringing together Coast Baseball (Coast Reporter, March 15).
Perhaps they could work with the chair of the Regional District and the mayors of Gibsons and Sechelt to determine the pros and cons of amalgamation that could then be presented to the public.
Our taxes keep going up and up with duplicate services continually being added in three jurisdictions that represent about 20,000 citizens. The Island of Maui has 17 communities with one mayor and council, one central administration and services centre for the entire island. They have a couple of hundred thousand citizens with over five million visitors a year. Just imagine the fun this process would create on our Coast, the naysayers would go ballistic, however, perhaps common sense would prevail.
