In this week's Coast Reporter (March 15, Shaw Road accident photo on page 6) the direction of travel of the Ford Focus was reported by police as "westbound."
The last time I looked, and I do live on Shaw, the road runs north and south.
I also notice in the weekly police report, our local constabulary regularly reportHighway 101 as running north to south. In fact, in this week's issue, on page 21,the fourth item states, "an erratic driver swerving over the centre line while heading northbound." Not so.Again, if you peruse a highway map - as if we had a decent road map of the Sunshine Coast; perhaps that's the problem - you willnote that the highway runs more east and west, rather than north and south. Why do you think West Sechelt iscalled West Sechelt? Because it is west of Sechelt.
Seriously this mislabelling of ourhighway directions could become a serious safety and/or security issue, particularly if first responders happened to beoff-Coast emergency persons or units, as is sometimes the case.
Come on folks, get it right.
