For those of you collecting harmonized sales tax (HST) horror stories, note the way that HST will be treated at such outlets as the St. Mary's Thrift Store and the Salvation Army store. To charge HST on their penny-ante items will be totally impractical, and therefor the organizations will have to calculate the HST on their total sales and submit that amount to the government. This could cost these charities $500 to $1,000 a month.

Let's hope the anti-HST lobby is successful.
