In past years one of the best services provided to the public by the District was the provision of free mulch at the Sechelt Landfill. Many gardeners on the Coast were delighted to be able to access this material. To the dismay of many, this service was severely curtailed, if not eliminated entirely, this year.

We understand this to be a cost-saving measure, but urge you to reconsider this decision. In your budget deliberations, we ask that you consider re-instating this service, a move we would heartily endorse.

In order to limit your cost exposure you could consider issuing tickets to homeowners for so many free loads, much as you do now for free dump loads. Alternatively, you could consider a nominal charge per load, to help defray your costs. We are sure you would find that re-instating this service to be a very popular move with residents.
