Last Monday, Oct. 5, many of us were treated to a fabulous concert with Maria Muldaur and her excellent jug band. It was very high energy and great fun.

Muldaur spent her whole intermission and after the concert in the lobby talking to people and signing CDs. I was the last in line after the concert to buy my CD. There was a woman in front of me, and I did not hear what she said to Maria. I did, however, hear Maria's response to her, saying, "How dare you say I cheated you when I sang my heart out for 2 1/2 hours?"

I had a choice of taking after the rude woman and perhaps losing my chance to talk to Maria and buy my CD, or keeping my spot in line. I chose to stay and lost sight of the woman.

I apologized to Maria, saying that is not how Sunshine Coast folks talk to visitors and that the concert had been wonderful. She very graciously thanked me, but she was visibly shaken.

I am still angry and embarrassed to think that anyone would be so rude. Whatever did she think she would prove by whatever her comment was? Whoever you are, I hope you read this letter and feel shame for your disrespectful behaviour.
