I would like to say thank you to Eric Bernsten for all the wonderful things he does around the neighbourhood in Halfmoon Bay to make our outdoors a clean and safe place.

Several weeks ago, a dead baby seal washed up on the shores at Sargeants Bay. Consistent with the heat and the cycle of nature, several days later the seal began to rot and exude a pungent odour. This, of course, began to attract other wildlife and even our own household pets.

Bernsten, true to form, single-handedly removed the seal from the public beach and drove it to a spot in the woods where he dug a hole and buried it. He has since checked on the burial site on numerous occasions to ensure that other wildlife have not unearthed the seal.

Personally, I would have found removing and burying the seal repulsive. I am very grateful to have friends and neighbours such as Bernsten who are willing to step up to the plate and take care of the jobs nobody else would want.

All I can say is hats off and thank you to a warm and wonderful neighbour.
