A showing of care and attention

I was shocked - and very much saddened - last Friday (March 8) when my son's young dog galloped joyfully through the woods in Cliff Gilker Park and out onto Highway 101, where he was hit by a car.

I was then shocked - and amazed -at those who stopped to help: a dozen, maybe 20 people, including a volunteer firefighter and a paramedic. These people organized me in my shock and cared for the dog. And Lisa turned her vehicle into an animal ambulance and transported him to the vet, a procedure that took two full hours out of her day.

In the end, our beloved Brock died, but not for want of the care and attention of all these fine people. We are very grateful.
