Baby Ruairí Singh Dhillon entered the world at Sechelt Hospital at 10:06 a.m. Jan. 4, making him the first baby of 2021 born on the Sunshine Coast. The 3.8-kilogram (8 lb. 6 oz.) infant measured 52 centimetres and was due Jan. 12. The Sechelt family has a two-year-old, Darragh, who is already curious when his baby brother is coming home, said mother Sarah Dhillon, adding she and her husband, physician Paul Dhillon, were surprised to discover Ruairí was the Coast’s New Year’s baby. While COVID-19 restrictions mean the usual visits with friends and family aren’t possible, they are considering window visits. “Now that he’s here, we’ll be busy getting to know him and introducing him to his big brother,” Ms. Dhillon said.
