The Sunshine Coast Skating Club sent 15 skaters to the 2020 WinterSkate & BC Coast Regional Championships competition in Langley, Feb. 1 to 3. The club’s skaters were awarded two bronze medals, four gold and five silver assessments.

In a thrilling final, Grade 8 Elphinstone wrestler Alice Clement came from behind late in the match to beat a Grade 11 student from Windsor Secondary School to take first place at the Vancouver Sea-to-Sky Zone Championships on Feb. 7.

The Sunshine Coast Volleyball Club (SCVC) U15 Girls season is in full swing. They had their opening Playday tournament Feb. 9 at Simon Fraser University and are gearing up for more tournaments around the Lower Mainland.

Air pistol shooter Allan Harding of Gibsons helped Team Canada reach ninth place at InterShoot 2020, an annual international air pistol and rifle shooting competition in The Hague, Netherlands. The tournament started Feb. 6 and lasted three days.

National Curling Day

Chatelech Secondary School senior volleyball team captain Grace Brisebois has been hand-picked to join Capilano University’s varsity team in September.

More than 100 people participated in the Fifth Annual Sunshine Coast Loppet on Sunday, Feb. 9. The sun made a welcome appearance and snow conditions were excellent for a day of racing.
