Bringing in the new year in San Diego, Calif., was a great way to start 2016 for local boys Jake Podgorenko (Sechelt), Harris Dixson (Gibsons) and Braeden Service (Roberts Creek).
They joined players from across B.C. who were selected to play on the Burnaby Mountain (Elite) Select Field Lacrosse team. The three-day tournament brought in teams from across Canada and the U.S.
The first game saw Burnaby Mountain Select defeat Minnesota Chill 9-3. On Day 2 they beat California Animals 14-3 and had a comeback win over Booth California, 6-4.
On Day 3 in the quarter-finals they delivered a 13-1 win over Minnesota Chill and defeated SoCal Express 6-2, winning the Division Championship.
In the third game they crushed Seattle Starz 12-2 for the gold and 2016 Adrenaline Challenge, after being undefeated in all their games.
