Jessica Carroll scored a cracking breakaway goal in the U18 Storm’s 6-1 win over Surdel Strikers in North Delta on Sunday, Oct. 23. The youngest player on the team, Jessica showed great composure to beat the on-rushing goalie with a shot from outside the penalty area. It capped a solid performance from the Storm, who had struggled earlier to break down a determined home team.
Fielding only 10 players, the Strikers had held the Coast girls 1-1 for much of the first half, before Pearl Deasey put the Storm up 2-1 at half time. Pearl scored her second goal, a beautifully placed free kick from 25 yards out. From a similar distance, Lexi Muir hammered home a left-foot volley. As the home team tired, Lucy Schick and Ingrid Hansen also scored before Jessica made it six.
With just three goals conceded all season, the unbeaten Storm are averaging more than five goals scored per game. They take their unbeaten record to the Lower Mainland this Sunday where they meet the Surrey United Divas. Next home game is Nov. 20
