Another season of rep soccer is underway with the new U16 girls Sunshine Coast Chaos starting in fine fashion.

They played some gold division teams in a tournament recently and that got them in stride to tackle silver division league opponents.Ê Goalkeeper Jen Brown, centre back Georgia Clyde and left midfielder Eliza Brown came up with strong performances to allow the forwards to dance. Four goals and it was all over. Tajeda Stewart netted two, one from the penalty spot, and singles from Jasmine DiPietro and Skyler Sita took care of the scoring.

Well done on your first outing, girls.

Sunshine Coast United opened their U15 boys' league also on a winning tune with a 3-0 win over the usually tough (physically) Squamish team. ÊThe best goalie in the league, Sam Hilstad, didn't have much to do but when needed he came out and played like another sweeper. Stewart Richey moved from his leftback position to play a great game at centre back. Stewart really read the game well. Nelson Troup was dancing all game and gave the Squamish defence fits from the right wing.

Defender Devan Newman moved up to fill a void on the forward line and snared a goal while Andrew Kraus used that beautiful left foot of his to crack in two. It looks like coach Rick McGuire has the boys ticking already. It should be a good season.

The U15 girls' Scorpions continued their winning ways from last season against the Tsawwassen Extreme.

Goalkeeper Gurveen Clair was called on to make only one save behind outstanding games from central defenders Rachel Hargreaves and Courtney Lamb. Scorpions struck in the first five minutes as Tayler Metcalfe hit a corner kick into the penalty area and with Tianna Storvold, and Candice Veal exerting pressure, an Extreme defender played the ball into her own goal. The midfield got into the act as Kendra Pomfret's lob went between the Extreme's goalkeeper's hands for goal number two -a good way to start the season with a solid performance.

The second year U13 girls' Stingrays are showing improvement resulting from a year under fire.In a Labour Day tournament, the girls improved as each game progressed and had "the dreaded shootout" rob them of the win in the last game.

Sept. 11 was the first league game against the Surrey Thrashers.

A sluggish first half did not hurt and the Stingrays picked up their game to push the Surrey team. Maya Schutz gave a great performance in goal, making three key saves. Thrashers needed a great shot that Maya almost had, to get the game's only goal.

A bright future appears on the horizon. Keep your heads up, girls, and keep working hard. The Stingrays have started a new tradition. Player of the game gets to wear a Team Canada women's jersey for a week. Michelle Wells earned the honour for her tournament performance, and Maya earned the honour for her Sept. 11 effort.

The Sunshine Coast Adrenaline U12 boys kicked off their inaugural season with a game against Point Grey Thunder.

The boys moved the ball well and gave a fine effort.

The Thunder opened the scoring with a fluke goal and upped the score to 2-0 with a high shot.

Jason Talbot scored the Adrenaline's first ever goal to bring the score close but two more high shots made it 4-1 at the half.

Right after the restart, Griffin Troup notched the locals' second.

The Adrenaline put on the pressure for the rest of the second half giving their opponents more than they could handle. As with most times, when you are going all out for a score, you are vulnerable to a fast break. That is what happened as Thunder broke away for their fifth. The final score of 5-2 did not reflect the play.

Coach John Lussier is really pleased with his team's progress.

The U14 boys Celtic travelled to play the Lynn Valley Hawks.

The boys gave a hardworking effort starting with an outstanding game from sweeper Avery Payne which earned him the coach's award. Evan Murphy and Eli Paradis were dominant in the midfield. The man of the match, Jessie Higgins, started the scoring with a great shot from 20 yards to the right top corner of the net. Kelsey Dixon came off the bench and within five minutes he beat the Hawks' defence and hammered a shot that the goalie couldn't handle.

Liam Parry rounded out the scoring as he feinted right, moved left and put the ball between a defender and the goalie into the net. Jessie Higgins wears the coveted Celtic jersey this week for his effort. Coaches Owen Parry and Drew Murphy wear the biggest grins after a 3-0 win.

The U17 Boys' Strikers moved up this year from silver one to the gold two division. They took on the Kerrisdale Falcons, the top team in the division last year, and gave them a handful of trouble.

Skyler Lagace played goal and had a grand game. His key saves and strong challenges kept the Strikers in the game.

Brandon Elsdon scored first with a shot along the ground.

Then the Falcons curled a corner kick just inside the post to tie the game 1-1. Brandon then took a long throw-in that Kelly Neu headed in from in front of the goal. In the second half, the Strikers lost their rhythm and the Falcons took advantage. In the final minutes, Falcons scored three for a 4-2 win.
