On March 11 and 12, the Sunshine Coast Volleyball Club (SCVC) U15 team travelled to Langley for their first sanctioned AA tournament of the season to compete with some of the top clubs from the Lower Mainland. Day 1 began with round-robin play, with the team finishing second in their bracket after matches with Air Attack Gold from Richmond and Force from Surrey. This lined them up for a high-stakes match against the Coquitlam Ducks for a spot in the Championship Bracket. SCVC beat the Ducks in two straight sets, placing them in quarter-finals against Thunder Blue.
In a hard-fought battle, Thunder Blue beat SCVC in the quarter-final, removing them from Championship contention and placing them in a match for fifth place against Elevate from Abbotsford. The match went to three sets, but SCVC was able to secure the win and place fifth out of 27 teams. Thunder Blue would go on to take first place.
A sincere thank you to Ross Concrete for sponsoring the team for this event. The team has their sights set on the top spot at Regionals the weekend of April 8 and 9. Good luck, SCVC!
