The Kunamatatas started off 2008 on the right boot with a well played 4-2 victory last weekend.

The K-team started strong, with Simon Gaiga getting an early lead. The Strikers fought back against the flow of the play and snuck one in to tie the score 1-1. But Austen Perry then lifted one over the goalie to re-establish the lead. In the second half, the K-team were all around and over the Strikers' goal, but could not build on the lead until Nathaniel Haglund shot one over the goalie from the half line.

Again, the Strikers counterattacked for another goal to cut the lead to 3-2, but Austen iced the victory with a well put tap-in on Alex Monkman's nice run to the net.

The K-team had their best passing game of the year with solid play from William Johnston and Haden Bush, and a strong back line anchored by Liam Moore and Bradley Sekaran kept the Strikers away from the net.

U17 girlsThe Scorpions hosted Vancouver United on Sunday and were well-deserved 2-0 winners.

The defensive play was outstanding, led by Tayler Metcalfe and Addy Fearnley, with Jennelle Higham in goal. The first goal came from a cross by Noah Mithrush where Natasha Wells moved in and powered a header into the top corner of the net.

Tianna Storvold, playing her best game at the Metro level, made it 2-0 in the first half by taking a pass from Noah, beating one defender and putting it over the keeper's head. Rachel Hargreaves, Natasha and Kendra Pomfret had strong games in midfield.U13 boysThe Predators hosted the Cliff Avenue Wildcats last Saturday.

The Predators dominated the Wildcats from the opening whistle, but had trouble beating the tall, athletic Wildcats goalie. In the 20th minute, the Predators looked like they had taken the lead on a rebound by Zach Karmel, but the play was called back for an offside. In the 25th minute, Zach sent Lee Gye in on a breakaway and Lee got his own rebound and tucked the ball into the net for a 1-0 Predators lead at halftime.

In the second half the Predators continued to press and had a number of glorious chances. Andrew Strom, Kelly McKee and Zach all narrowly missed putting the Predators up by two.

Five minutes from the end, though, the Wildcats evened the score on their onlygood chance of the game to make the final 1-1.
