U11A Blues come out on top

In the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association’s fourth home tournament of the year, the Sunshine Coast U11A team won gold in a thrilling game against Powell River.

In the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association’s fourth home tournament of the year, the Sunshine Coast U11A team won gold in a thrilling game against Powell River.  

After going undefeated in the round robin, the Blues played the Cloverdale A3 team Sunday morning to see who would advance to the gold medal game. the U11A Blues easily beat Cloverdale 9-1 and were set to play Powell River in the final. It was a close tie game going into the third period and then with back-and-forth goals Powell River tied it up with four minutes left. Then, just before the period ended into what would have been sudden death overtime, Blues captain Keaton Durkin scored the game-winning goal with five seconds left on the clock, much to the delight of the hometown fans.
