The U17 Thunderbirds defeated WV Spuraways 6-0 in a Cup semi-final on Sunday, Feb. 26 at Ambleside.
Angelo Pinsonnault beat two men in the box to open the scoring in the third minute, followed by great goals by Jamie Mundy and two by Casey Baines, one each side of the break. Kai Hansen finished from close range on a cross by Wyatt Baldwin before Cole Schutz smashed one home from outside the 18 to cap a decisive victory.
Will Magnussen, Quin Huibers, and Hayden Rogers all had impressive defensive displays as they have done all year.
Last weekend saw the T-birds fall 3-2 in a tight match to VU Vikings in Vancouver. The teams were tied going in and the loss, T-Bird’s first loss in the league since Oct. 1 of last year, left the Coast lads third in the Gold 1 division.
Thunderbirds play in the finals of the North Shore Cup Saturday away at North Van Torrent.
