On Thursday night, Coastal Tire, which is made up of midget players from the Gibsons Minor Ball Association, smoked the Gibsons Jays 8-1.
Russ Thorsteinsson was the winning pitcher. Cam Graham and Trevor Nicholson both went two for two at the plate and had a pair of RBIs each. Andrew Baron scored a pair of runs and also factored in two impressive defensive assists, gunning out two runners at home plate.
Jessie Dill pitched one inning of scoreless relief, striking out all three batters he faced in a losing cause for the Jays.On Sunday, the Royals hammered Coastal Tire 12-2.
The game ended after five innings under the mercy rule with Nate deBoer pitching five strong innings with three strikeouts. Robbie Turlock went three for four with four RBIs and Kenny Fujimori went two for four with three RBIs.
The Ryan Dempster Cubs, Royals and Coastal Tire are in a three-way tie for first place, followed by the Jays and Norris Oil both two and a half games back of the leaders.
Action continues tomorrow night (Saturday) as the Jays take on the Royals at 5:30 p.m. at Ryan Dempster Field of Dreams in Brothers Park.
