Three Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association players earned top honours at the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association scholarship tournament last week.
Graham Marsh, Cameron Graham and Mike McLennan from the Sunshine Coast midget rep team each picked up gold medals, helping lead their team to a 4-2 win in the championship final of the tournament and the Cyclone Taylor trophy.
The three players recently tried out for one of four teams for the tournament. Each team was guaranteed three games, with the top two teams playing off in the final. To be eligible for the tournament, all players had to be 17 years of age and in their final year of high school with a C+ or better grade-point average. The tournament was held Jan. 22 to 26 across Vancouver. All three Coast players had an intense week of travel and school, but their efforts certainly paid off in the end.
Cam finished the tournament with four goals and four assists, Graham had two goals and two assists and Mike had two goals and two assists.
All three players have been playing together on the Coast since they were in the tyke division. The tournament was a great way to finish off their final year in minor hockey in a high-level tournament with great competition and skill on display.
