In a rematch of last year’s finals, the IGA Brewers faced Lon’s Gun Show in the first game of the Sunshine Coast Men’s Fastpitch League. The reigning champs jumped out to an early lead, but the Brewers battled back with Therin Hemstalk hitting a homerun. Brad Kohuch had a strong night at the plate for the Brewers, going 4 for 4. The Gun Show retook the lead going into the final inning with a 7 to 6 lead, but Rod Dalzidl hit in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

In other action that night, the RJS Jays beat Gilligans 15 to 5. Steve Partridge looked good on the mound and also pitched a good game for RJS. He was supported by some strong Jays bats, including homeruns from Tyler Craig and Rob Dixon.

On Wednesday night, Custom Carpet beat the Big Deals 12 to 2 with Brennan Mayers getting the win for Custom. The RJS Blue Jays outlasted Lon’s Gun Show in a great game. Jim Peers was back in good form getting the win for RJS. The difference in the game was a three-run homerun by Sean Grey in the third inning. Taylor Hancher kept the game close for Lon’s Gun Show by making an amazing over the shoulder catch from second base to turn a double play. In the bottom of the seventh, Thomas Scarr hit a triple and was the tying run, but was left stranded, allowing RJS to get the 4 to 3 win.

In Friday night action, Custom Carpet beat Gilligans 17 to 6 with Matt “Block” Fawcus getting the win for Custom. Doug Saunders hit a bomb, clearing the street, and Aaron Hately contributed with a homerun to centre. The other Friday night game had IGA Brewers beating the Big Deals 13 to 7.
