The third week of action in the Sunshine Coast men’s fastpitch league saw lots of runs being produced. On Monday Lon’s Gun Show and The Big Deals had an entertaining, high scoring game.

The third week of action in the Sunshine Coast men’s fastpitch league saw lots of runs being produced.

On Monday Lon’s Gun Show and The Big Deals had an entertaining, high scoring game. The Gun Show capitalized on some Big Deal errors and jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, with home runs coming from Conner Cross and Nolan Lewarne. The Big Deals battled back, though, and a grand slam from Kelly Hamblin put them ahead 12-11. In the top of the seventh, Nolan hit a triple to start the inning and lead the Gun Show to scoring three runs to win 14 to 12.

Mike Sopow and Taylor Hanchar pitched for the Gun Show and Jasmine Samedi, Denny August, and Terry Williams pitched for the Big Deals.

In the other Monday night game, the IGA Brewers beat Gilligans 24-14. The Brewers jumped out to an early lead, but Gilligans battled back only to have the Brewers pull ahead again.

Wednesday night at Hackett Park featured Custom Carpet versus RJS Blue Jays. The game was scoreless until the fifth when RJS got one run. They added two more in the sixth thanks to a two run homer by Dave Moran making it 3-0, which ended up being the final score. Jim “Weepy” Peers had a strong outing, striking out 10 for the win.

The other Wednesday night game had Lon’s Gun Show beat Gilligans 19-7. Jody Underwood and Mike Sopow hit home runs, and Bailey Busnarda hit two for the Gun Show. Angus chipped in with a home run for Gilligans, and Christina Lewis had a great night at the plate going four for four. Thomas Scarr also continued to stay hot going five for five with two doubles. Mike Sopow and Tayler Hanchar pitched for the Gun Show and Christina Lewis and Al Holt pitched for Gilligans.

RJS Blue Jays continued their undefeated season beating the IGA Brewers 8-4. Graydon Benner from the Brewers hit a two-run bomb off a flat drop ball. Rob Dixon homered for RJS. The game was back and forth until the sixth when Blue Jays tacked on three insurance runs.

The other Friday night match-up had rivals Custom Carpet and The Big Deals face off against each other for their second meeting of the year. The Big Deals, led by Terry Williams, won 10-0, bringing the head to head match-up to a game apiece.
