Last weekend, a team of coaches from Hollett’s Kickboxing & MMA in Sechelt traveled to Calgary, Alberta to test their skills at the 2022 WKU Canadian National Kickboxing Championships.

Gym owner and head coach Dave Hollett accompanied and competed alongside four other coaches from his gym, Noah O’Sullivan, Amir Tadayon, Ryan Daley, and 17-year-old junior coach Jaiden Avila.

This was the first event that all the coaches from the gym were able to travel and compete together, says Hollett. Very exciting for the gym.

Three of the coaches, Ryan, Noah, and Dave were returning athletes to WKU, securing victories at the last National Kickboxing Championships back in 2019, while Amir and Jaiden would be competing at their first national tournament.

All the guys did exceptionally well in their bouts, showcasing that all the hard work and dedication in the gym paid off for them, says Hollett, adding that he’s really looking forward to getting back and preparing for Wales in October.

All five coaches secured their spot on the national team: Ryan with a gold, Noah with a gold, Jaiden with a gold, Dave with a silver, Amir with a silver, and will now travel with team Canada to Wales, U.K. in October for the 2022 WKU World Kickboxing Championships.
