Shaun Stephens-Whale from Roberts Creek got a taste for New York and has an appetite for more.
Shaun finished 13th overall at the Empire State Building Run Up Feb. 6. He feels he could have put in a better time."I could have done better. When I don't perform at the top of my potential, I sort of have a bad taste in my mouth," he said.
Shaun finished in a time of 12:44. He was hoping for around 11 minutes, which would have put him near the top three.
"I started near the back of the pack. It was a mass start and everyone was jockeying for position going into a pretty small stairwell," he said. "If you're not first, you can't get in too quickly. I ended up walking the first 20 flights and that slowed me down a bit."
He said he enjoyed the experience of the race and the event, which was covered by more than 50 news outlets, including print, radio and television media.
"I hope to get the opportunity to go back and improve. I want to be in the top three," he added.
