On Sept. 20, Ryan MacDonald, Pender Harbour Secondary student, was presented with the Sunshine Coast Drag Racing Association Ted Meldrum Memorial Spirit Award by teacher Jay Walls in recognition of his hard work on the engine of the school’s car.
Co-winner of this year’s award was Matthew Bentley, a 2015 Elphinstone Secondary School graduate who is working towards a level one apprenticeship in automotive tech.
The award is presented to a Sunshine Coast high school student who demonstrates a mechanical aptitude, is dedicated to motorsport, volunteers in the community and is supportive of school programs.
