Boys U11 Coastal Storm has a new lineup of young athletes this year.

Boys rep U11 Coastal Storm FC started the season with an almost entirely new roster this year. They are very excited to represent the Coast and play in the big leagues.

First game on Sept. 12 at their home field of Picadilly was a thrill. The boys played well and energetically for their first game together. Hosting CAU Barca, our boys, led by veteran striker Taiyo Blackwell, hustled and pressured Barca all game. An amazing corner shot goal from Ben Walker scored our first goal of the season.

Samuel Uwa, with speed and determination paying off, scored the second goal. The final score of 2-0 was well earned, but tough opponents in Barca showed the boys what is to come this year from the city teams.

The second game was away, playing CAU Fury in Burnaby on Sept. 19, and they were a different kind of team altogether. It rained the whole game, and though we tried to put our enthusiasm to good use, we were simply outgunned from start to finish.

Highlights, from goalie Hayden van der Stelt trying his best to keep out the accurate shots from the Fury and speedy defence from Henry Rose, were not enough to stop their awesome organized attack in this loss. We learned valuable lessons and more of what is to come from long time together city clubs.

The third game this past weekend was at home on Sept. 26 against WVA Spuraways Red. West Vancouver was another thrill to watch on a sunny day.

Ben was a blur of energy trying to rally the ball into their end. Samuel earned his great goal in the first half with more of his great speed. Hayden was tested all day again by the awesome force from West Van.

Fergus Pringle almost made a few goals happen, Taiyo and Max Joe showed the fans some awesome hustle and breakaway potential – unfortunately not enough to overcome the Spuraways. Toward the end of the game our boys were rallying into a true team formation and showing soccer the way they want to play as they become more confident as a team.
