Gibsons Special Olympics basketball team played in a tournament in Coquitlam at Dr. Charles Best Secondary School on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Dedicated long-term coaches Samantha Giampa and Laurie Miller were very pleased with the work skills the team has developed. The team played four mini “C” level games.

The first game against Surrey and the second game against North Shore were warm-ups for the team. After lunch they came alive and played well against Langley and Abbotsford. Their passing, dribbling and shooting skills highlighted their hard work.

The team practices every Tuesday evening at Gibsons Elementary. Dave Diether and Michelle Dueck volunteer with the team and Elphinstone students Callum Fallis and Caytin Kopeck assist.

Bruce Stuart, Wes Harrison, Brett Coridor, Josh Stanley, Amber Maher, Candice Garrett and Amanda Boghean attended the tournament.
