Isabella Watts is Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s (SCSC) August Skater of the Month.
Isabella is nine years old and is transitioning from Starskate to Competitive Skate this year. She attended her first competition in Pre Juvenile Ladies, U11 at Scotia Barn in Vancouver, placing 8th in a field of skaters from B.C., Ontario and Alberta. She has been travelling with other club skaters twice weekly to Vancouver for April, May and June ice time, followed by three weeks in Victoria.
She is currently training on the Coast. Isabella fulfills the criteria for a competitive skater by acquiring skills at a young age, year-round commitment, cross-training with Ballet, Jazz, Acro and daily dryland. She passed more than 10 Skate Canada tests from April to August in the fields of Skills, Dance and Freeskate.
“She is extremely coachable and shows great potential for competitive figure skating,” the club said in its announcement. “Keep up the good work, Isabella.”
