Sechelt rugby player John Allen is in Bermuda this week playing for Team Canada in the World Rugby Over 30 Classics.
Canada played the British Lions on Nov. 8 but suffered a brutal 43-7 loss.
“The boys played really hard and we will up our game for our next match against France on Nov. 11,” Allen said.
Allen and his cousin Tyrel Brackett, also from Sechelt, played in San Jose, Calif., for the Canadian World Classics in July this year.
“The game in San Jose was hard hitting with lots of scores,” Allen said. “I had one try disallowed, which should have counted, and another that was a yellow card against the U.S. on their five-yard line that wasn’t called.”
The Bermuda tour consists of eight international teams: New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina, France, Italy, the U.S., Canada and the British Lions.
“[At the Over 30 Classics], there are current super 15s – premiership players capped for their country at least once in their career,” Allen said.
The British Lions have over 700 caps alone on their team. A cap is when you play one game for your country on an international level.
