Sara Christmas aims for rookie of the year

Sara Christmas of Gibsons came second at the Chilliwack British Columbia Racing Association (BCRA) rodeo on Aug. 5 and 6.

She also placed in the Redstone Rodeo this past weekend, which puts her in third place overall in rodeo women’s style racing in B.C. Christmas will be competing in Port Angeles, Wash., this weekend.

On Sunday, Aug. 21 she will be competing in Prince George. Christmas has been barrel racing for six years, but this is her first year doing rodeos.

Her goal is to make rookie of the year.

Judy Hyde of Prince George is first in the standings, followed by Sarah Gerard of Savona, B.C. Taylor Cherry from Quesnel is currently leading the rookie standings.
