The 5th annual Holiday Hustle 5k and 2k is happening this Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt. This is a fundraiser to offset the costs of travel to meets on the Mainland for the Chatelech and Elphinstone running teams. It’s also a collection point for donations to the Elves Club. Come out and get some fun exercise while supporting the local community.
Online registration is open until 6 p.m. Saturday, at sunshinecoastathletics.org. Race morning sign-up is also available starting at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Seaside Centre (cash or cheque). Free Santa hats and jingle bells for all participants (or bring your own – Christmassy costumes are welcome).
The 5k run gets underway at 9:30 a.m. The family-friendly 2k walk, dance-walk and kids run starts five minutes later. Both courses finish up on Cowrie Street before returning to the Seaside Centre.
Post-run festivities include live music by Arbutus Sounds Chorus, hot chocolate and Christmas goodies, and many draw prizes donated by local sponsors.
