Girls Rugby

The Chatelech Eagles girls 7s rugby team played their first game against an experienced Handsworth team.

The Eagles lost 10-7, a most respectable first-ever game score that exceeded all expectations. The inaugural all-girls team was formed this year. They had two special rugby camps run by professional coaches, multiple practices and weight training sessions, but only one game due to their inexperience.

The girls are training now for a September tournament with teams from out of province and the U.S., and spring games in the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan.

“The future is very bright, indeed,” said head coach Mike Clukas.
