Raiders hanging on to first

The Inlet Raiders went 1-1 last week to remain in top spot in the men's A-division hockey league. The Raiders sit with 16 points, while the Roberts Creek Rangers are in second with 14 points. The Rangers also have a game in hand on the Raiders.

The Raiders sit with 16 points, while the Roberts Creek Rangers are in second with 14 points. The Rangers also have a game in hand on the Raiders. Suncoast Flyers are third with nine points, followed by the Midway Power/Grasshopper Pub Hitmen with seven points.

The Flyers and Raiders combined for a rare offensive explosion Tuesday night, with the Flyers coming out on top 9-7.Paul Johnson and Mike Johnson each scored twice for the Flyers while Danny Baker, Taylor Watters, Kyle Vaughn, Mike Eistetter and Drew Johnson added singles. Mike Johnson also chipped in with two helpers, as did Drew.

Bryan Poulsen notched a hat trick for the Raiders, while Jarred Rutley and Bill Stockwell each scored two goals apiece. League scoring leader Graham Benjafield added two assists, as did Tom Poulton.

The Raiders other game last week was a 6-1 win over the Rangers last Thursday night.

Stockwell and Jeff Schwingenschoegl each fired home a pair, while Mike Cote and Tristan Tuplin added singles. Cote ended with a five-point night as he assisted on the first four goals.

Peter Leverman scored for the Rangers.

In other action, the Hitmen picked up a 7-3 win over the Flyers on Nov. 11.

Jason Wilson and Darren Pollock each scored twice for the Hitmen with Dan Fitchel, Nate Debaur and Brandon Watters adding singles.

Chris Pike, Drew Johnson and Connor McCarthy replied for the Flyers.

On Saturday night, the Rangers edged the Flyers 2-1 on goals by Aaron Hamilton and Derek Inkster. Vaughn scored the Flyers goal.
