With the playoffs only a few weeks away, the top teams in the men's and women's leagues are jockeying for position. At Brothers Park, old contending rivals Marshall Mayhem and Xenichen Ya Yas faced off, with the 3-1 win going to Mayhem. Mayhem got a single strike from usual suspect Tawny Hargrave, while always dangerous winger Stephanie Ross stepped up to smack two into the net. Christina Joe scored for Ya Yas. While these two top-seeded teams battled it out, CALs Crushers leapfrogged them both into top spot with their 5-1 win over Coast Progressive Blazers. Laura Nickerson scored two, while Amy Campbell, Tara Sweet and Shannon Reid added singles.

At Hackett Park, Gibsons Pigs played their typically gritty game, though L&J Contracting Fusion took the match 3-0. Pigs got good defence from new player Jody Clark, while Fusions' scoring came from their red-headed dynamos Vicki Schneider and Melissa Braithwaite.

The Sechelt Chiefs served the men's league notice in their 3-2 win over Pender Harbour.

Magic Matty Joe decided he'd rather play for a winning side and put in all three, hitting the net from 20 to 30 yards out. Keith Johnson was also rock solid in the midfield. Pender's strikes came from Richard Massullo and Corey Mottishaw, and Bananas got good backline playmaking from Mike Brown. At Hackett, after a slow start, Gibsons Pigs looked like they were winding up to last year's form, as Ken Campbell crossed balls in for Dean Forbes and Brian McAllister.

Coast Progressive United's Alexander Lamb has really stepped up his game on the wing and played with great tenacity. CPUs penalty shot struck by Dean Totten ended the match at 1-0. High-scoring Xenichen Wolves and Gibsons United looked ready to shoot it out at Brothers Park, but after Sean Whalen limped off the field, it was all Wolves, who took the match 2-0. Flyin' Ryan Paul bagged both goals, after a saucy display of footwork in midfield. Kudos to United's Richard 'RPG' Getzkow for getting back on the pitch after last week's injury. IGA Selects and Halfmoon Bay spent 90 minutes determining who would take fifth place. Selects went up early in the match when Eric Pinfold stripped a defender then ripped the net. HMB shot back, though they were stonewalled time after time by maniacal keeper Glen 'Flying Squirrel' Cody, who saved balls in all four corners of the net. Eventually Marcel Vander Steldt, Pete Williams and John Rogers managed to put balls behind him for the 3-1 win.
