U12 Predators put in a spirited effort, but visiting Douglas Park Rangers took the home side 5-2 last Saturday.

The underdog Predators played their best half of the year and got a great start from a booming shot courtesy of Jordan Hoy in the fourth minute of play for a 1-0 lead.

Douglas Park answered with a great strike at the 15-minute mark against the run of play to tie the score at 1-1.

Elliot Cayer buried his penalty shot attempt in the 17th minute, putting the hard-working Predators up 2-1 at the half.

The physical play continued for the remainder of the half with the Predators carrying most of the play, but they were unlucky to be up by only one.

Douglas Park came out inspired in the second half, scoring on their first possession, followed by another great chip shot two minutes later to take the lead for good. With the Predators losing two players to injury and out of substitutes, Douglas Park poured it on, scoring two more to win by three and remain undefeated.

U13 boysAdrenalin travelled to Burnaby to play Cliff Avenue United last Saturday.

"Cliff Avenue have not lost since we beat them in October. We came out really strong, controlled the play and shut down their attack," said coach John Lussier. "Cliff Avenue has one very strong striker - big, very fast and very skilled. We were able to hold him in check for much of the first half, but a momentary lapse led to him being sent in on goal alone, and he scored, to put Cliff Avenue up 1-0 at the half."

Lussier said Adrenalin started out strong in the second half with three quality scoring chances, but couldn't hit paydirt."The game was very even, but another mental mistake allowed their striker to find the net," Lussier said. "Cliff Avenue scored twice more to make the final 4-0. And while the score looks very one-sided, the game wasn't at all. I thought for the most part we played well. I think it just shows that at this level, there is no room for error. Let up for a second and the other teams will punish you. We play a great style of soccer, but have a hard time finishing our chances - certainly something we will keep working on. Derek Brown was a stand-out for us, really utilizing his speed to his advantage."

Adrenalin host Point Grey Thunder on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Cliff Gilker Park.
