Mother and son team Cielo Lyle-Shortt and Zack Lyle earned silver medals in the 4.0 category of the third annual Arena Bowl Pickleball Challenge.

This past weekend marked the third annual Arena Bowl Pickleball Challenge at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.

The tournament, co-sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Pickleball Association and the Sunshine Coast Regional District, was once again a resounding success. This year’s event marked an all-time high in player participation with 132 competitors making up 110 teams playing a total of 320 games on nine courts.

The Arena Bowl is now considered one of the most popular doubles tournaments in the province. As such, it’s no wonder that 60 per cent of participants travelled from Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley to be part of it.

By the close of play on Sunday, Sunshine Coasters had earned 27 medals.
