A sizzling final round on Sunday that featured an eagle on 14, paved the way for Jesse Ostrosky to capture the 2012 Sechelt Amateur Golf Championship at the Sechelt Golf Club.

After an opening round 72 on Saturday, Ostrosky held a two-shot lead over Matt Cookney who shot a 74. Ostrosky's play on Sunday was steady and Cookney dropped back in the field, but Connor Richey emerged with an eagle and birdie to highlight his start and was at four under and making a charge. But Ostrosky rolled in a 40-footer to make eagle and then birdied the next hole to all but lock up the title.

Ostrosky fired a two-day total of 144 (72, 72).

Trevor Delaney won the senior championship with a 154 total (79, 75), Dean Warnes won the senior net championship with a net score of 142 (82, 83) and Ron Corman won the men's net championship with a net score of 137 (75, 80).

"The back nine was set up for scoring on Sunday and that was reflected in the play. Some guys had some great rounds," said Jeff James from Sechelt Golf Club. "We had 51 players at the two-day event, arguably the top 50 players on the Sunshine Coast. There was some fantastic golf."

James said he wanted to thank all of the golfers who came out to support the event as well as all of the businesses and sponsors.

"The Sechelt business community really came through. We had all 18 holes sponsored and some great hole in one prizes too."
