Drag racers will be ‘Racing Through the Weeds’ at the Sechelt Airport in Wilson Creek on the final day of the Festival of the Rolling Arts.

The Sunshine Coast Drag Racing Association (SCDRA) hosts the Sunday, Aug. 7 event – participants and spectators young and old alike are welcome.

New for 2016 is the motorcycle class, and race organizers are hoping for a nice turnout. For the serious racers, there are the Hot Rod and Street Rod classes. For enthusiasts who may just want to race their daily driver, Street Machine and Super Street are the perfect race classes.

During the awards presentations, the Vic Dubois Memorial Award will be presented to a member of the SCDRA who volunteers and demonstrates continued dedication to the club, and the community.

Cash prizes are available for all race classes, best reaction time, fastest and, of course, best burnout.

Bring your friends, chairs and sunscreen and be prepared to have a good time! Please remember that pets aren’t permitted on the site.

Tech inspection is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Racing begins at 9 a.m. Gate admission is $10, racing fees are $50 non-members and $35 members.
