The Sunshine Coast Men’s Fastpitch season is coming to an end, with the league playoffs happening this weekend at Brothers Park.
Games start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 and go all day Saturday and Sunday, concluding with the final Sunday at 5 p.m.
RJS Jays led by legend Jim “Weepee” Peers finished atop of the league standings and are probably the favourites going into the playoffs, but really any team could win this year as the league saw its greatest parity in years. The Big Deals started off slow, but have really found their stride and finished strong to end the season.
Custom Carpet has young ace Brenan Mayers leading them and when he is on they are capable of beating anyone. Both Coastal Cutthroat and Lon’s Gun Show have a good mix of veteran experience and youthful energy and both have won within the last couple of seasons. You can never count out Gilligans who always seem to upset one or two teams come playoff time.
