Elizabeth Gerbrandt of Roberts Creek earned the Farnam All-Around Level 1 13-&-Under youth title at the American Quarter Horse Association West Level 1 Championships in Las Vegas, on April 23. Gerbrandt showed her American quarter horse, Zips Classical Image, who is a 2002 sorrel gelding. Zips Classical Image, sired by Barpassers Image and out of Dynamic Chelsea, was bred by Merle and Jean Lingel of New Plymouth, Idaho. The Farnam All-Around Level 1 Amateur winner received a Montana Silversmiths belt buckle and a trophy. The American Quarter Horse Association’s Level 1 Championships are the pinnacle event for American quarter horse Level 1 and Rookie exhibitors who competed in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 1,543 entries competed for 83 champion titles at the 2017 AQHA West Level 1 Championships April 19-23 at the South Point Equestrian & Events Center in Las Vegas.
