Live boxing returns April 25

War on the Shore 3

Live amateur boxing returns to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday night, April 25 when the Sunshine Coast Boxing Club plays host to War on the Shore 3 at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.

The main event will be a five-round fight for the vacant B.C. Middleweight title between Ari Ashari from Vancouver and George Vourtsis of Gibsons.

“This fight promises to be a crowd pleaser,” said club founder Rick Shannon. “Both men are big punchers who stand in front of their opponents and throw bombs and have scored knockouts.”

Other Coast boxers on the card will be Dorian Connelly facing a Kelowna boxer in the tyke division, while Graham Porter and Joe Carrio will be featured in senior bouts.

Boxers from Williams Lake, Kelowna, Victoria and the Lower Mainland have scheduled bouts for this event.

The event will also feature Barry Krangle who once again will be the ring announcer for this alcohol-free, family-friendly event.

Tickets are $20, available at the door or by contacting club president Randy Hollett at 604-989-5180.
