Selects beat Pender 4-2 at Pender Secondary. Pender's two goals came from Robin Millar, one from a throw in and one on a pass from Rod Kammerle. The Selects got scoring from throughout the squad with goals coming from defender Lorne Mackie, halfback Bill Davis and forward Glenn Coady. Coady may have been watching too much premier league this week, as he attempted to volley a cross on the 18-yard line, but it wound up in the top corner of the net for the Selects fourth goal.

Chiefs and United played at Ted Dixon, and though they lost 3-2, Chiefs continue to come on strong this season. Chiefs were missing some of their strikers, but so was United. In what was starting to look like a tie game, Richard Getzkow one-timed a high ball in the final minutes that guided itself under the crossbar to give United the win.

Pigs and HMB met at Connor, where the Pigs scored 3 to HMB's 0. Ken Campbell struck his penalty shot, Dean Forbes took a pass from Campbell down the wing to beat a defender and hit the top corner, and Aaron Morrisey smacked a HMB goal kick straight back into the net. HMB had chances and by some strange technique managed to put a goal line ball over the Pigs' crossbar.

Wolves played CPU at Hackett but were a few players short of a pack and started the game with only nine players. Wolves had a few defections from the squad in the summer but now have Ben Pierre on the roster to provide some scoring punch. Despite the two-man advantage, CPU could only put one in the net by the half, as returning striker Dean Totten scored minutes after taking the field. Defender Ian 'Air' Dixon lit his afterburners to out-jump CPU forwards and head a ball off the goal line. By the second half, Wolves had a full 11, and Ryan Paul hit his penalty shot to put the Wolves on the board. For CPU, hungry halfback Steve Oka swooped in from the wing to pounce on a loose ball and bag himself a goal, to end the game at 2-1.

Fusion was this week's team to try to hand the Ya Yas their first loss. Sara Agnew started the scoring as she hit a long ball from her defender's position high into Fusion's net. Shelley Patrick replied by chipping the Ya Yas' keeper later in the first half. Halfway through the second, Ya Yas' striker Christina Joe put a ball on the foot of Mary Joseph to keep the Ya Yas' streak alive.

CAL's beat the Pigs 3-1 at Connor. Forward Kim Starnes put two in the net, while Tara Sweet one-touched a third over the line. Ally Strom stepped up strongly to bang a loose ball into CAL's goal for the Pigs.

Mayhem and the Wild set out to prove which team could bring more chaos to the field, and Mayhem prevailed with eight goals. Mayhem's goals game from Trina Geisbrecht with two, Tawny Hargrave, Jen Fitchell, Darla Messner, Dawn Bezaire, Cubby Alsted and Summer Hay. The Wild smiled through it all and looked too intent on having a good time to let the score bother them.

Any women interested in giving soccer a try for the Wild can call Jessica at 604-885-5517 or Linda at 604-886-0545. Also, this is the last chance to get tickets for the men's and women's leagues soccer dance at the Gibsons Legion this Saturday, Oct. 22. Tickets can be purchased from team reps or Trina Geisbrecht at 604-886-2208.
