Langdale Elementary has a tradition of supporting the Terry Fox Run.

This year the Grade 6/7 class set an ambitious goal of raising $1,995 in support of the foundation – and managed to surpass it. As of Oct. 26, the school had raised over $2,500.

Preparations began weeks in advance and Grade 6/7 student leaders created a PowerPoint presentation that recognized Terry Fox’s character, achievements and legacy.

Before beginning the run, the Grade 6/7 class led stretches and a warm-up to the beat of I Would Walk 500 Miles, by the Proclaimers. The whole school ran a two-kilometre course and students were cheered by parents holding signs that reinforced Terry Fox’s courage. Students wore shirts with the statement: “I am running for Terry and …”

Runners were refreshed with oranges donated by Gibsons IGA. The Langdale community is very proud of its students’ support of the Terry Fox Foundation.
