Sunshine Coast Boxing Club coach Randy Hollett took the Vancouver City Championship belt back to the Coast after a four-round unanimous decision win on June 17.

Sunshine Coast Boxing Club (SCBC) coach Randy Hollett won the Vancouver City Championship belt with a four-round unanimous decision over Ajit Sidhu of Richmond at the Cascades Casino in Langley on Friday, June 17.

Hollett took the fight on three days’ notice as Sidhu’s scheduled opponent withdrew.

Recently returning to competitive boxing after having cancer and shoulder surgeries, Hollet gave Sidhu a boxing lesson. Holding the centre of the ring and skillfully counter punching Sidhu’s attacks, he was clearly the better boxer in this 154-pound title fight.

This is Hollett’s second title belt. He won the 147-pound version in a fight held at the Gibsons Curling Club in 2013.

Also on the card representing the SCBC was Sechelt’s Marcus Davies, who lost a disputed decision to Phil Ryan of Vancouver.

It was the opinion of many in the audience that Davies had forced the fight, but the judges saw things differently.

This was only Davies’ fourth fight and Ryan’s 14th.
