The fourth annual Halfmoon Bay 10k run has seen dwindling numbers every year since it started, and this year only three runners and about 15 walkers participated.

“This money helps us give back, but then we want to promote fitness and health, so that’s why we started to do this as a fundraiser,” fire chief Ryan Daley said.

The run is put on by the Halfmoon Bay volunteer fire department. In past years they have raised around $1,000. In their first year, 190 people participated.

Daley said the money goes to causes like helping people with muscular dystrophy.
