The Suncoast Racquet Club enjoyed its first open tournament in the new indoor facility in Sechelt last weekend with some exciting matches in men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
In men's doubles, new member Lance Sparling teamed up with long-time member Richard Spence to win all their matches. Laurie Reid and Tammy Klashinski had some close calls, but won all their matches in women's doubles. Eleven couples competed in mixed doubles with Klashinski and Dennis Hollis winning an exciting final against new members Terry and Lance Sparling. The consolation final was won by Judi Lees teamed with new member Chris Scipio to beat long-time members Anne Elliott and Colin Jacobsen in another nail-biting match.
All in all it was a wonderful two days of tennis with plenty of excitement and it was great to see new members coming out to participate. Well done to everyone who took part.
