Canadian figure skater Elvis Stojko will be performing Ice Show on the Sunshine Coast on March 11, 2017 – with special guest Gladys Orozco and performances from Sunshine Coast Skating Club skaters.

The Sunshine Coast Skating Club (SCSC) has launched a new website for Canadian Figure skating icon Elvis Stojko’s upcoming performance titled Ice Show on the Sunshine Coast in March of next year.

The website – www.elvisrocksthecoast.com – has information on the event, plus info on skating skills seminars to be held by Stojko scheduled for March 12 for figure skaters and youth power skaters in hockey skates.

A meet and greet is also in the works for the night before the performance, with details to come. Tickets to the show will be available for purchase on the new website.

Stojko will be performing two shows on March 11, 2017 at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre – one show in the afternoon and one in the evening. Mexican champion figure skater Gladys Orozco will join Stojko as a special guest.

Ice Show will also feature skating performances from the SCSC CanSkate, CanPower, Jr. Academy and STAR skaters.

Stojko – born in Newmarket, Ont. – is a Canadian figure skater whose outstanding jumping ability helped him win three word titles in 1994, 1995 and 1997, and two Olympic silver medals in 1994 and 1998.

Stojko broke ground in the figure skating world by pushing the boundaries of athleticism in the sport at a time when judges were more impressed by technical virtuosity. That style made him a fan favourite when he moved on to professional shows.

The SCSC has been instructing skating on the Sunshine Coast for almost 40 years. They offer a variety of programs for children who range in skill from beginners to competitive figure skaters.
