Liam Hafey from the Chatelech racing team helped out in the annual Dirt Shredder Invitational mountain bike race on June 7. More than 80 students from West Sechelt, Kinnikinnick, Halfmoon Bay and Roberts Creek elementary schools all took part in the friendly race.
This event has been running since 2008 with great success, according to the president of the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club, Glenn Hafey.
“I strongly believe in supporting kids and biking,” Hafey said. “Both from a healthy, happy kids perspective and helping to support the grassroots riding from the Sunshine Coast.”
The event was facilitated by teachers Margaret Cooper, Lisa Allen, Chris Allen, Dave Lewis and Glenn Kerr.
